If you supposedly bought a dirt cheap E34 540i that's running perfectly but it has no front end. What would you do? Restore to original state? Do something different than normal?
Just suppose a fellow oppo just acquired this E34 in this exact state. Supposedly, okay?
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:08 |

this is all TOTALLY hypothetical, yes?

M5 conversion????
Hell leave the stock drivetrain but make it look like an M5
But this is just in theory ;)
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:09 |

put it back to OE condition. If it was a stick there is no doubt on that one
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:09 |

Bring it back to OEM. Make it all pretty like and stuff, and then go hooning.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:12 |
|
It's supposedly automatic, unfortunately. That's where I'm going towards. Although there is the OEM Msport kit with brake ducts and aero bolt ons.
The bumper is supposedly salvageable and I've supposedly found a company in Germany that sells pretty much all original pieces at reasonable prices.

Add rally lights and led light bar to front and then hoon like madman
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:15 |

I think as long as you find a 94-95 525i sport you have the correct front end anyhow, unless the air dam is different. There are a ton of e34 of that era up here with bad trannies or head gaskets
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:15 |
|
Or return to stock.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:16 |

That's one of the supposed possibilities, problem is that it would supposedly require rear bumper, wheels, spoiler, mirrors and side skirts too. So it'd be a long term project as a lot of money is supposedly already going towards finding these god damn Hella headlights and fog lights.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:16 |

Yes! TOTALLY. And my hand behind my back is not crossing two fingers. I swear!
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:17 |
|
How cheap was it?
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:20 |
|
Ahahahah.
Not THAT cheap, but for a car that was SUPPOSEDLY sent to a mechanic immediately after the purchase and had all fluids changed, all hoses, cam, pumps and pressures checked for any sort of failure and passed all tests with a golden star, it was very cheap. About 20k miles. Supposedly 20k miles I mean, supposing this actually happened.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:20 |

RALLY LIGHTS
ALL OF THEM
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:22 |

Yeah... It's very easy to find a lot of these things in the US and Europe. Some parts of the front end are different in the EU vs US car, but still (this one is EU).
Problem is that over here, we're supposedly not being able to find anything. We're still searching though, and thankfully the same headlights work for both E32 and E34, all versions. So it's easier to find some of these pieces.

drift missile?!?!?
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:31 |

Restore and flip. If you don't think you can get the body panels cheap enough to turn a profit, weld the dif and DRIIIIIIIIIIIIFFFFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTTTUUUUUU
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:42 |
|
Well damn, so its supposedly in great mechanical shape and has low miles. Yea I'd supposedly rebuild it.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:42 |
|
omg, as an e34 owner who's bumpers were all demolished in the winter... where are you finding bumpers for reasonable costs....
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:43 |
|
I'd love to do that, but at the same time the whole rest of the car is PERFECT. Supposedly, of course. I mean... so perfect the car has never gotten a polish job and still doesn't.
Not sure I'd have the guts to do it.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:45 |
|
But there's the supposed possibility of the OEM MSport kit, and maybe some cool restomod. I'm searching for possibilities I haven't thought of yet.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:50 |
|
The bumper is going to be rebuilt, but the kidney grille, headlights, fog lights, etc... it's all being (supposedly!) quoted new.
And by reasonable prices, I mean half the price a BMW dealer is charging me. BTW, I live in Brazil, so early 90's BMW parts are very hard to come by because imported cars were outlawed until 1992.
Best places I've found online so fart though are eBay of course, www.eeuroparts.com and www.schmiedmann.com because they ship worldwide.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:54 |

I'm urging for an E34 for years now, and it would probably be my best chance of owning a good one.
And I'd love to drift one, but besides the front end, the rest of the car is 100% perfect.
So I feel it's not fair to ruin a car that's perfect like this by drifting it.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 10:57 |
|
The rest of the car is too perfect to do something that extreme:
Not sure I'd be okay with that. But I'd love to do something awesome (not necessarily OEM restoration) with the front.

Also, dat motor soudns A_M_zing

She's a beaut. Live your dream man. I'll be over here looking for rust buckets on Craigslist.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 11:09 |

My supposed dream! Don't forget that!
Keep a look out on dream cars like this... It's a project after all, because the owner was already selling it before one of his employees smashed into a tree, so he made it for half of the original asking price.

Roadkill Charger style
![]() 03/30/2015 at 11:51 |

Wooden front bumper, zip-tied sealed beam headlights. No fucks given BMW.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 11:52 |

I have two 6V flashlights laying around. Think they'll pass inspection for headlights if I wire them to the other headlights in series?
![]() 03/30/2015 at 12:04 |

I meant more like this.
Sadly was my personal vehicle at the time.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 12:10 |

Sadly, that's the current solution for me too so I can at least drive it to the mechanic and around the block.
I wonder if I should mono grille the BMW.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 12:23 |

Do it!
![]() 03/30/2015 at 12:51 |

M-sport bumpers all around.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 15:00 |

Hey, that first one is my battle wagon!
![]() 03/30/2015 at 15:06 |

Are you in Brazil? If you are, keep that car in showroom conditon until I'm 18 so I can buy it from you.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 15:13 |
|
Not happening, man! I'm sorry but it's mine for life, hopefully.
But keep an eye out for E34s if you want them. The crappy ones are being riced out and the good ones are skyrocketing in prices.
![]() 03/31/2015 at 09:38 |

I knew it was someone's on Oppo - they posted the picture and I 'shopped the grilles together.
![]() 04/17/2015 at 11:24 |
|
The honest answer is that I would tell my friends to do something wild with theirs, go crazy, but just restore mine and justify it to myself because it avoids the local constable's gaze.
![]() 04/17/2015 at 11:30 |
|
Restore it, then add some sort of OEM front lip and enjoy.
It is in such Mint condition apart from that front end thingy that modifying it would be a shame, specially with lots of stance kids ruining those cars with rattle cans and knockoff rims.
If it had a dead engine, and was all over neglected then Ill turn it into a drift/stance kind of car BUT only if it was beyond the Point of no return (bent chassis, dead engine, some rust)
![]() 04/17/2015 at 11:39 |
|
It's kinda late now, but that's what I'm doing! Parts are being ordered.
The engine is PER-FECT. The previous owner had a car collection and a mechanic exclusive to his cars. The car was put on sale when he died and his son got rid of a few cars. This is when the "accident" happened.
![]() 04/17/2015 at 11:46 |
|
Then by any means keep it as original as possible, I would only add something like an OEM body kit and maybe some Good rims (such as BBS, Alpina) or some BMW M rims.
Enjoy it!
![]() 04/17/2015 at 11:55 |
|
I'm torn between the Alpina and the M Parallel wheels, actually.
I'm trying to get my hands on the Alpina Aero kit, but apparently no one here has anything remotely similar. Only in Europe...
![]() 04/17/2015 at 12:04 |
|
M parallel wheels alll the way! Its not that I dont like the alpinas, they're really classy but those M rims are one of my favs! if you want, hit me at @hellish_ve on instagram and Ill gladly make you an illustration of your car. just mention you're from Oppo
![]() 04/17/2015 at 12:05 |

Oh by the way, the illustration is with various rims choices so I could help you decide.
![]() 04/17/2015 at 12:20 |

Whoa, thanks!
I'll follow you, certainly! This car is a loooong term project. I just bought an apartment and since the BMW is not a DD, it's priority number last+1. But thanks for the offer!
